From the Meets to the Travelling Light
As a part of Carmencita Film Lab, we started the project called “Carmencita Meets” back in 2012. Seeing how the film scene evolved in Europe, it felt there was a need to gather film photographers to share and learn in a friendly environment while talking about their work. Our goal is to establish European film photography as a reality and bring it one step further.
Without knowing it, this was the first spark of Traveling Light.
The Meets experience in Porto
With that experience in mind, we want to take it one step further and create a bigger event still keeping the same family spirit. With Traveling Light we are widening the amount of photographers that can join in and, as a result, are making the experience better. There’s this saying in our town “The more of us there are, the more we’ll laugh!”
SHARING, CONNECTING & LEARNING
From our experience, the single element that decides how unforgettable anything is determined by the people who conforms it. We are social beings and one of the best things about film photography is that it usually forces us to work with other people. It’s impossible for a photographer to be an entirely one man band show.
Every good idea is often born from exchanging other ideas, listening to other opinions and positively debating how to make things better. Thus, the whole idea behind Traveling Light is to connect with other likeminded people like you, in a nice relaxed atmosphere where we can feel free to share our concerns, opinions, and ideas while at the same time learning from others.
Networking has always been in our DNA and we couldn’t be more excited to make it happen with you.
