FAQ
We love to answer your questions!
What kind of photographer will benefit from Traveling Light?
The Traveling Light is meant to be a place to connect with film photographers, both the ones that have been shooting for five years and those who are just starting with film. We believe the best ideas are born from connecting and exchanging thoughts with those who work in different fields, from portraiture to landscape, from editorial to weddings. Inspiration is everywhere and it comes in all shapes and forms!
The Traveling Light is a place meant to exchange knowledge, learn from others, see different types of photography and connect with minds that think alike.
Where should I fly to?
If you are not familiar with Catalonia region make sure to check out our Travel section, we have tried to cover all the concerns when it comes to getting there.
The closest airport is in Girona but only a few airlines reach it. Barcelona is the main airport and often the cheapest to fly to. We’ve tried to explain it all but if you still have questions reach us at ask@travelinglight.eu!
How many people is going to be attending?
Although the theater can fit up to 200 people, we limit the number of seats 100. It might seem like a lot but once you’re in Torroella de Montgrí it will feel like a big family. The town is known for its hospitality and the charming character of its people (of which there are no more than 11.000 inhabitants).
The number of spots are limited in order to be able to connect with almost everyone and still have a cozy feeling : )
How many workshops can I take?
You can take up to 2 workshop! One during Satuday and the other during Sunday, all the workshops will happen simultaneously during both days so you can choose which one you one to join.
You can check all the workshop going on at /workshops
What’s included in the Traveling Ticket?
The standard ticket of Traveling Light will guarantee you access to all conferences, parties and events during all the days of the festival + all the meals during the event (5 dinners, 4 lunches & Farewell Breakfast). Accommodation is not included.
Workshop will run on the last 2 days of the festival and are optional (you need to book them separately)
What are the speakers going to talk about?
We’ve carefully selected a wide range of photographers from different fields and very different visions that have choose film as their medium of expression. As this is our first time hosting an event like this we’ve tried to cover all the aspects of what it means to be a photographer in the XXI century. From creative portraiture, to how to build a successful business with photography, we hope we can all learn from each other and grow as photographers and as a community.
And have an awesome time by the coast of the Mediterranean of course!
Where are the conferences going to be held?
All conferences and presentations are going to be held inside Cinema Montgrí, a cinema from the 1920’s that is still standing and projecting movies weekly today. Thanks to the passion of the people in town, the town hall was able to buy it in the 80’s in order to preserve it and keep it as a symbol of the city.
And yes, they still have a 35mm projector that we are planning on using!
What about VAT?
Spanish 21% of VAT will be added to all the prices.
Only if you are coming from within the EU and have a professional VAT number registered in VIES, you are exempt of the Spanish taxes. If that’s the case please get in touch at ask@travelinglight.eu
